Dunlop SB nickel
The Dunlop Super Bright nickel string set (taper B) is my favorite for meeting my needs: flexible feel, good range of tone color, reasonably priced, and a B string with good focus*. When this set breaks in, it is not “super bright” but is clear and more in the middle ground for nickel strings. The taper on the B string is longer than other manufacturers and it is important to have the taper on the B string start closer to the bridge saddle. Otherwise, if the taper begins too far away, the pitch will lose focus and the intonation will not be satisfactory. Stringing the B through the body solves this issue on my bass.
