Hi-Beam bass strings are some of the best in the business.
They are stainless steel strings round wound on a round core and known for their brightness, ease of playing and punch. They won't eat your frets and are extremely long lasting.

Great short scale strings
While I don't like hi-beams as much as fat-beams, these are still a great alternative to Ernie Ball 45-105 shorties. I like the sound more than La Bella's shorties, but at the end of the day, it's about preference, and I've always had a good experience with DR's strings on full-scale basses, too.
