Thomastik-Infeld JR344 Jazz Bass Strings
Gauges: .043 – .051 – .068 – .089
Scale Length: Long scale (34")

Thomastik-Infeld JR344 Jazz Rounds are designed for players seeking the warmth and sensitivity of flatwounds with a subtle increase in articulation. The construction closely follows Thomastik’s Jazz Flat concept, substituting a fine-diameter nickel alloy round outer wrap to add clarity and definition while maintaining a smooth feel.

The small-gauge round winding provides slightly more edge than a flatwound without the typical side effects associated with roundwound strings, such as excessive finger noise or accelerated fret wear. A round steel core allows the string to vibrate freely with no preferred motion axis, contributing to an even response across the set.

Lower overall tension and carefully balanced gauges improve playability and reduce strain on the instrument’s neck without sacrificing output or dynamic range. Silk inlays between the windings help enhance warmth and stability, while silk-wrapped ends secure the windings and reduce stress at the tuning posts.

JR344 strings are well suited for vintage-inspired jazz tones, upright-influenced feel, and players who prioritize touch sensitivity and control.

    Best Roundwounds ever made

Sound amazing, are not too heavy/stiff, and the string noise isn't too bad. Too bad they're hellishly expensive.
