Pyramid’s new “Fusion Flats” series strings were designed by Dean Farley. Over the last three decades, Farley has become a most influential person in the world of guitar string design. He originally became interested in designing a unique new type of flat-wound string after a certain guitar inspired him to look more closely into this traditional style of guitar string.
The end result is truly a more versatile type of flat-wound string—capable of producing all the classic tones of Pyramid’s famous Gold Label sets, adding into the mix a chameleon like ability of having extreme musical flexibility. We therefore found the “Fusion Flats” sets as being very useful for any type of musical genre from jazz to rock, blues and beyond.
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU INSTALL YOUR FUSION FLATS SET:
Round Core Flat-wounds must be installed differently than their hex-core round-wound counterparts.
1). Install the string at the tuning key and tune to concert pitch.
2). Let the strings stretch out on their own (without any manual stretching-such as tugging or yanking—as this might severely damage the wound strings). You might be surprised at how fast this natural stretching takes.
3) Never cut the string’s excess length before bending the string in a sharp right angle. Simply be sure to cut the string slightly above where the bend is.
4). That’s it, now enjoy the sound of your guitar(s).
